OER Project

WHAT IS IT

The OER project’s mission is to connect the past and the future through quality world history instruction. They feature three courses for educators to implement: “Big History,” “Origins to the Present,” and “1750 to the Present.” These courses are adaptable and contain multimedia additions. While these are history courses, they also promote reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in students. OER provides professional development to support educators implementing their curriculum.

WHY WE LIKE IT

EMPOWERMENT—The OER project’s mission is to connect the past and the future through quality world history instruction. The courses are adaptable and contain multimedia additions. While these are history courses, they also promote reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in students. OER provides professional development to support educators in implementing the curriculum.

FLEXIBILITY—OER provides two extension courses to support educators in adapting existing lessons and curriculum with new tools and methodologies. All OER resources are free, online, and fully adaptable.

CURIOSITY—OER brings together insights from various disciplines to create history courses that build critical reading skills and effective argumentation.

UTILITY—While some content repositories offer one-off resources without a cohesive framework, OER provides two full courses: Big History Project and World History Project.

TIPS

These resources are best used for implementing a new unit, as opposed to a reteach or supplemental lesson.
